According to Dawn, the best part of her day is watching patients and their parents leaving the office confident and happy, because they’ve had a positive experience while here, especially if they arrived feeling anxious. Some days you’ll find Dawn at our reception area, welcoming patients and overseeing paperwork. At other times she is working with our patients and their families to discuss treatment planning. And she is always available to answer your questions about our practice and pediatric dentistry. In fact, she encourages questions, believing that informed patients make better, healthier decisions about their care and lives.
In her downtime, Dawn is often found surrounded by her animals, crochet hook in hand. She and her husband have four cats and two dogs, and the antics of the animals keep them entertained.
Front Office Manager
Don may be the first person to greet you when you arrive for your visit. He’s always smiling and loves to welcome new and returning patients, and hear about everyone’s lives and families. Overseeing the day-to-day running of the front office keeps Don busy: He schedules patients and submits and follow-ups on insurance claims, and he’s our computer / technology trouble-shooter, as well.
His off hours are spent with his wife and animals. Don’s very involved with the sport of K9 Nose Work. He and his dog Cooper have been competing since 2012 and have achieved titles in Nose Work 1 and Nose Work 2.
Cathy says that the most rewarding part of her work is when a child and the parents come in, very frightened, and she is able to help them work through their fears so that when the appointment is finished, everyone leaves having had a positive experience and with a smile on their face. Among her many duties, Cathy is our OSHA trainer and compliance person, and she manages the clinical areas of Kids Dentist. She’s certified in infection control and nitrous oxide and oxygen conscious sedation analgesia administration. On top of that, she writes our newsletter and manages our Facebook page!
Outside work, Cathy loves spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren. She also enjoys photography, creating audiovisual slide shows, boating, and traveling.
Lisa says the greatest joy in her job comes from watching the children grow up, over the years, and being a part of that process. She spends a lot of time with our younger patients, talking with them about oral health and teaching them not just how to keep their mouth healthy between visits and cleanings, but why it’s important to do so. Always encouraging and reassuring, Lisa excels at helping timid patients work through their fears and actually smile and laugh during their visit — which shouldn’t be surprising, because she used to be a “cast member” at Disneyland. In addition to providing education and cleanings, she’s certified in nitrous oxide and oxygen conscious sedation analgesia administration.
In her free time, Lisa loves being outdoors, losing herself in a good book, traveling, and being with friends and family.
Our patients love coming to see Eva! She’s so good at providing them with entertainment and distraction, to get them laughing and relaxed during their visit. She’s really skilled at helping kids become enthusiastic about their dental care, and she talks with them about what’s going to happen during their visit in terms they can understand and appreciate. Because she has three beautiful girls of her, own, she knows how kids think and how best to talk with them. Sometimes Eva’s at our front desk, and at other times she’s in our back office, performing dental and hygiene assisting and sterilization.
When she’s not here at Kids Dentist, Eva’s usually with her three daughters. They love trying new adventures.
Hygiene and Dental Assistant
With a really big smile and a great way with kids, Nacelen provides both hygiene and dental assistance during treatments. She is there to help the doctor and the hygienist, but her focus is mostly on the patients: checking to make sure they are comfortable, cracking jokes to keep them entertained, and reassuring them if they’re a little scared. As the oldest of five children, Nacelen is excellent at understanding how younger patients think and how to help them become excited about their visits. She says that her favorite part of her work is when a child who arrived with fear in his or her eyes, leaves with a big smile, because the child had a good time while here.
Nacelen recently got married and cannot wait to start a family of her own.
Stephenie is our “Friday Girl”. You will see her smiling face in the halls of Kids Dentist every Friday. Stephenie is a graduate of the College of Lake County Dental Hygiene Program and received her license as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2009. Stephenie likes to split her time between Kids Dentist and working with adults to get a well-rounded view of dentistry. In addition to being a Dental Hygienist she is an avid reader, loves to spend time outdoors and quality time with her family.
Jax is one of the last faces you may see when leaving our office. He is willing to answer any questions you may have and help schedule future dental visits. He likes to make sure that not only the patients had a positive experience, but the parent/guardians did as well. He is very involved with our online marketing and the community events we sponsor. When he is not scheduling appointments, he may also be confirming insurance benefits or talking with patients on the phone. Jax started working at Kids Dentist in 2014 and continues to thoroughly enjoy his job and learn more every day.
In his free time, Jax enjoys spending time with his family, fiancée, and his two German Shepherds and cat.
Brittany is our newest smiling face at the front desk. Brittany arrived in the dental world in 2011. She is experienced in assisting, sterilization and reception.
Brittany’s sense of humor keeps us laughing while her sense of new hair styles would give the Divas in Hollywood a run for their money. She is a very busy mother of three who enjoys travel and cooking. She has a mean recipe for Spanish Rice and Beans that she may just share with you if you ask her real nicely.
Charlotte is a Midwest native who came to Kids Dentist right out of high school. In fact, this is her first job. She has become our director of traffic in the Hygiene area of our office. She sees to it the kids are brought back and settled in, calming their fears and reassuring them that this will be an “easy day”. She has been trained as a Hygiene Assistant and sterilization person.
This soon-to-be mother of two likes camping, kayaking and raising a busy two-year-old. Charlotte is in the process of being trained to be a Dental assistant and no doubt will be excellent in that capacity also.
